Yoga for Contentment? YES!
In Yoga and Mindfulness circles the word ‘suffering’ is used a lot. But, why do we suffer? What is the cause? Is the goal of Yoga to accept it? Is the Mindfulness movement about ending it? In traditional Yoga we understand that the root of discontentment is unknowing (avidya). We get so caught up in the push, pull, and performance of life that we have no recollection of the glorious truth - that we are spiritual beings: divinely created and supported. Once we begin to honestly understand this truth the suffering dissolves and contentment becomes as consistent as our breath itself.
How does Yoga help?
New dimensions of joy and hospitality open up when you slow down, allow stillness, silence, and rest. The philosophy of Yoga, and your own experience applying it in your life is what will lead you inward where you will know that peace is with you.

Both!
Individuals Mentoring students to find peace within follows a careful approach based on the traditional path of Patanjali’s 8 limbs of Yoga paired with a personal book club.
Groups of any size are introduced to Yoga Philosophy in a way that helps apply ancient wisdom to modern life. We will return to our breath (pranayama)often throughout a group session.

This is not an asana class.
While we may do some movement to help us loosen up and feel comfortable, we will mostly be in discussion for this kind of session. The messaging around releasing suffering is not complicated, but it is so foreign to most perspectives. This is where we put the word MINDSET front and center.

Comfy and Casual is best.
Often participants like to dress very casually and comfy. However, there should be no barriers for us to jump into a communication mentoring session or workshop. If you are coming from work, or if this is a workplace wellness event, please join me as you are. We will tailor the session accordingly. There is no need for leggings or sportswear.
-
A yoga mat or rug, towel, blocks and meditation cushion are advised.
If you own these bits of gear, please bring them. Depending on the location (studio, retreat house) gear may be provided.
Please be sure to bring water or tea for hydration.

Everywhere!
For individual sessions we can meet virtually on Zoom or if you are local to Southern Maryland we can meet at my Yoga Studio: SONDER.
Group workshops usually take place during Yoga Retreats or Wellness Seminars at Sonder or at off-site locations. The events page lists upcoming opportunities. Yes, I’d also be happy to travel to your destination :)
